I had the pleasure of meeting SB Tor in the late '90's. It was at the Sheraton where there was one
massive fellowship c/o the AA and SB Bobby Carpio '64.
I recall that Tor met Googoo Puyat '89. Googoo and I are very close and I am endeared
to his entire family as well. Googoo's
father Bonjing '61 is Tor's batchmate.
What impressed me with Tor was that he was a party animal just
like me. Though much senior, he could
put away the whiskey, laugh and enjoy the music. Fellowship.
This brod was and still is good at it.
In a deeper sense, I also respected Tor for his humility and recognition that he told Googoo when they met at that Sheraton gathering. "Anak ka ni Bonjing? Alam mo ba na nuon wala akong pera, pinatira ako sa bahay ng Lola niyo at pinakain. Napakabait ng pamilya nyo sa akin kahit wala akong pera nuon".

At that time I thought that Tor was just being modest about
the Puyat's generosity. I never knew
that Tor was known in the USPAA in the US, as "The Godfather",
generous, apolitical and ever "at thy call" to bros in need. Tor even took them in at his
home when needed. I found that out from bros like
Jun '77, and many others were recipients of SB Tor's
kindness and sincere generosity. It was then that I also
realized how modest and kind he remained to bros despite his illustrious career
as a veterinarian in the US.
Tor reconnected with
us in 2012, our 25th anniversary year.
He co-sponsored fellowships at
Tresto and at Dugout as part of our anniversary "fellowship string"
in LB and Diliman. He even threw a
fellowship at Dugout called "Budy Nights" and he was not even
there. Tor just wanted the bros to get
together in true fellowship.
"Live life brod".
The wisest words SB Tor imparted to me.
I will forever cherish meeting Tor in the Sun and do plan take on his
invitation to visit him in the US.
Someday, I shall tell him much again.
Oh, I failed to mention, that night we met at Sheraton, I
carried him back to his room with Adonis '86 and some other contemporary
bros. Before passing out Tor said.
"Ubusin nyo lahat ng alak sa ref ko brods!".
Thank you SB Tor.
